In Own Heliopolis American School we believe that education is a lifelong learning process, therefore our mission is to provide learners with an educational experiences that nurture their passions, problem-solving abilities, and higher level thinking skills and foster their curiosity and the disposition to inquire.
The school professional development and classroom instructional model utilized is based on progressive education theory reformed by John Dewey where students are in the heart of the learning process, and are actively engaged in a student centered learning environment and are offered variety of chances to experience testing their ideas and find answers on their own.
We encourage teachers to get rid of the traditional educational methods and to shift to activities that relate to the actual lives of the students and to be flexible and responsive to the needs of individual students.
We strive to offer our students a unique individualized learning experience that focuses on skills development, and on setting high expectations for everyone.
Additionally, the school offers a wide range of co-curricular activities that are designed and balanced with academic curriculum so that students get to learn beyond subjects’ curricula to enable them to face the benefits and challenges of both globalization and a knowledge-based economy.
